Things I Want To Teach Connor

1. Love Jesus. He is our creator, our savior, and our best friend.
2. Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself. If people don’t love you for who you are exactly, they aren’t worth your hurt feelings.
3. Hug your mom.
4. Learn from your daddy. He is and always will be the greatest man in your life.
5. Climb trees, splash in mud puddles and catch strange creatures. Be a boy to the fullest.
6. Be optimistic. Having a positive attitude makes you a happier person.
7. You will never be too old or too big to cry on mommy or daddy’s shoulder.
8. Always fight your own battles, don’t let someone take the fall for something you believe in whole-heartedly.
9. Go to college.
10. Let God write your love story. Don’t keep trying to take the pen and write in who you think is best for you.
11. Love isn’t a word to be tossed out to any girl. Save it for your future wife.
12. Read your bible daily. All truth, all understanding and all answers are found in this one book. So read it, cherish it and memorize it.
13. Be the type of friend that people can depend on, but don’t let someone run all over you because of that dependency.
14. Learn to say no. When people are pulling you in 15 million directions, no is a perfectly acceptable answer.
15. Christians are not exempt from being complete idiots. Never look at someone and judge their faith just because of the mistakes they made.
16. Love your wife unconditionally. Encourage her, protect her and lead her.
17. Be romantic. Flowers, love notes, cuddles and sweet whispers will make you more of a man than you may ever realize.
18. Women always want the short version of an explanation. Keep the long, detailed, step by steps for your guy friends.
19. Be a friend to everyone.
20. Listen to the lessons that we try and teach you. Believe it or not, they are and will be helpful throughout your life.
21. There are proverbs 31 women still out there. Know that your daddy and I will always be praying for that woman to come into your life.
22. You will not always get your way…end of story.
23. Know how to fix a car, and house issues. There’s nothing like a Mr. Fix- It.
24. Be smart with your money. Live below your means. Save for things you want. Adults do the smart thing and children do what feels good.
25. Marriage will be tough at times, but it doesn’t come with a “Get out of Jail Free” card. You work for it, you fight for it and you love through it.
26. Daddy and I will always love you. There is nothing you could do or say that could ever make that stop.
27. Have big dreams and make them come true.
28. Help those that can’t help themselves. When you see someone in need, lend a hand, open your wallet or just give an ear where it is needed.
29. Have a hobby. Find something you enjoy doing and make time to do it. Don’t let work and stress overcome doing what you enjoy.
30. Spend time with your family. No one ever looks back and wishes they would have spent more time working. Your family should always be top priority.
31. Find a job that you love. Don’t waste 8+ hours a day doing something you hate. With everything do it with a joyful heart.
32. Watch how your daddy treats me; this is how you should treat your wife one day.
33. Become an Alabama football fan. There is only one correct team, and if your dad finds out you cheer for any other team, your inheritance may be in jeopardy.
34. Choose your friends wisely.
35.  I will always hurt when you hurt.
36. Be an example. Live your life knowing that someone is always looking up to you.
37. Be a gentleman. Open doors, pull out chairs, and give up your seat for ladies and elders.
38. Work hard at whatever you do. Never be the first to quit and always strive to do things to the best of your ability.
39. Belching, passing gas, and other rude bodily functions should never be shared in the presence of a lady.
40. Your opinion matters, vote always.
41. Be a great dad. Learn to change diapers, soothe a baby, give baths and tuck your babies in at night. Your wife will need a break from time to time.
42. Find a bible believing, word preaching church and get involved.
43. Never walk away from your family angry. Work things out because you never know when you won’t be given that opportunity again.
44. Tell your wife and kids you love them every single day, multiple times a day AND mean it.
45. A foul mouth is never attractive; it will make you look childish and ignorant.
46. Realize that God answers all prayers, maybe not in your timing, and not the answer you want, but He answers what is best.
47. Learn how to clean a toilet. Your wife will thank you.
48. Learn to forgive, don’t hold grudges.
 49. Spending all day snuggling with your child because they don’t feel good, should never feel like a wasted day.
50.  You will never find time for anything, if you want time you must make it.
51. Travel. See the world and enjoy God’s creation.
52. Pick your battles. Not every disagreement is worth the argument.
53. When your wife asks if she looks fat, you always answer with “you are absolutely beautiful!”
54.  Your best friends should always be guys until your wife enters your life, then you will realize that your wife is your best friend. However, keep those guy best friends too.
55.  Take responsibility for your wife, your children and your family.
56. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
57. Take your family on picnics.
58.  Enjoy being young.
59. Listen with your face. When someone is talking to you, you listen to them by looking at them and letting them know that you are focused on what they are saying.
60. When you feel like everyone in the world is against you, no one loves you and everybody has let you down, know that your daddy and I will be here, loving you, praying for you and holding your hand through any battle you are faced with.
